SANTA CLARA,
Calif., April 12, 2004— IDT™ (Integrated Device Technology,
Inc.; Nasdaq: IDTI), a leading communications IC company, today announced
that it has received a green-partner certificate from Sony Corporation
for the development of environmentally sensitive products. Green partners
must develop products that comply with Sony’s environmental standards,
and Sony procures parts and materials for its products solely from green-partner
suppliers.
The Sony
green-partner standards were established in July 2001 with the goal
of encouraging suppliers to introduce green-partner environmental management
systems. As a green partner, IDT must:
IDT completed
the Sony green partner audit in April 2003 and received the official
green-partner certificate in September 2003.
“We
are pleased to receive this recognition from Sony as it represents our
success in working with customers to develop environmentally safe products,”
said Anne Katz, vice president of worldwide assembly and test operations
at IDT. “IDT recognizes global environmental issues and has established
a program beyond the Sony green-partner program to mandate green policies
and procedures across all of our products.”
IDT Green Initiatives
IDT has developed a strategy to ensure the production of environmentally
friendly products. The company is working to employ the various phases
of its plan, including the implementation of a lead-free plating process
and lead-free solder balls, and the utilization of green materials that
are consistent with the company’s internal assembly and external
assembly subcontractors. While the company’s long-term goal is
to convert all plastic package products to green product packaging,
IDT will continue to support customers who require non-green products
and will work closely with its customers to ensure a seamless conversion
to green products during the next several years. As customer criteria
and test methods emerge, IDT will update, revise and add to its qualification
testing. A significant number of IDT green products are currently available
with a greater number becoming available after April 2004.
