IDT coolRAC™ Technology Wins Electronic Engineering and Product World Magazine’s Green Power Product Award

IDT’s Breakthrough Power Architecture for Enterprise Computing Platforms Named Best Application in Green Power Category by Top China Electronics Publication

SAN JOSE, Calif., April 24, 2012 – Integrated Device Technology, Inc. (IDT®) (NASDAQ: IDTI), the Analog and Digital Company™ delivering essential mixed-signal semiconductor solutions, today announced that its coolRAC technology, a breakthrough power architecture for enterprise data centers that dramatically increases energy efficiency and lowers operating cost, has won a prestigious design award from Electronic Engineering and Product World (EEPW), one of China’s leading electronics industry publications.

IDT coolRAC was named Best Application in the Green Power section of EEPW’s Power Supply Products Awards. IDT’s technology is the most efficient and cost-effective solution for enterprise data center applications, and does not require a data center re-design or changes to the physical architecture, minimizing the required effort and cost to upgrade.

“IDT’s coolRAC is a breakthrough in green technology and we’re excited to see it recognized as such by a publication like EEPW,” said Arman Naghavi, vice president and general manager of the Analog and Power Division at IDT. “coolRAC technology offers unprecedented power savings in a market where every small increase in efficiency is crucial. This is just one element of our growing power management portfolio that is enabling the next generation cloud computing platforms.”
IDT coolRAC offers an innovative architecture for converting and distributing the AC input power of an enterprise computing data center to the DC inputs of the servers’ electronics. coolRAC achieves end-to-end power efficiency of nearly ninety percent (up to ten percent better than traditional solutions) using clever low-voltage point-of-load conversion and AC distribution techniques, resulting in dramatically lower energy and cooling costs. This solution provides a high-availability, low-cost cabinet-level power solution for network, storage, and server products, such as those used in large cloud computing facilities. Investment in the coolRAC architecture is extremely attractive, since deployment costs can be quickly recovered through energy savings.
The annual (EEPW) Power Supply Products Award program, now in its ninth year, is open to embedded system suppliers worldwide. The publication presents Best Innovation and Best Application awards in six product categories: DC-DC Converters, Power Management, LED Drivers, Power Devices, Battery Management, and Green Power and New Energy Resources. Products are judged by a committee comprised of EEPW editors and advisors, backed-up by outside experts in each field.
