IDT Cuts PC Clock Generator Power by up to Fifty Percent

INTEL DEVELOPER FORUM, san francisco, August 22, 2005IDT™ (Integrated Device Technology, Inc.; Nasdaq:  IDTI), a leading communications IC company, today extended its technology leadership in the PC clock arena by introducing new notebook PC clock devices that reduce power consumption by up to half that of previous generation products.  IDT leveraged its extensive knowledge of I/O technology to achieve this significant reduction in power consumption.  The new low-power PC clock devices support Intel® Centrino™ mobile technology-based laptops, which are built upon the Intel “Napa” platform and will also support Intel’s next-generation computing architecture.  In addition to lower power consumption, the new single-chip, four-PLL (phase-locked loop) PC clock devices offer greater flexibility and increased system performance by enabling the independent control of key clock circuits within computing systems.

“Notebook PC manufacturers have issued a clear call to action to all their suppliers, requesting that they reduce power consumption across the board,” said Tom Kao, director of marketing, IDT PC clock product line.  “Today’s announcement underscores our continued efforts to deliver industry-leading PC clock solutions to the market.  By lowering the power consumption of our PC clock devices by up to 50 percent, we are doing our part to reduce overall power in computing systems, while ultimately contributing to the greater cause of providing consumers with a better user experience.”

IDT Offers Leading Portfolio of PC Clock Devices

IDT has a proven track record of being at the forefront of delivering innovative solutions that are in tune with the evolving needs of the markets it serves.  IDT was the first to supply a single-chip clocking solution for the Intel® Centrino™ mobile technology-based notebooks.  Because of the four-PLL architecture, the IDT PC clock devices offer dedicated PLLs for CPU, PCI Express®, SATA and USB clocks, which provide robust performance and reduce jitter for SRC clocks.  The IDT PC clock portfolio extends the company’s legacy of providing high levels of quality, service and reliability in its products.  This is evidenced by Intel’s use of the previous-generation IDT PC clock devices as the exclusive clocking solution on its Napa-based

customer reference boards.  In addition, the devices also include built-in independent spread-spectrum control (SSC) to aid in the reduction of harmful electromagnetic interference (EMI) emissions.

Pricing and Availability

Pricing for the new low-power PC clock devices starts at 99 cents each in 10,000 unit quantities.  Reference platforms for these chipsets are available from Intel.  Additional information about the IDT PC clock devices is located on the IDT Web site at http://www.idt.com/products/clocks_mangement.html.
