IDT Introduces New Series of Low-Jitter SiGe VCSOs for Fiber Optic Telecom Applications

IDT Enhances Leading Timing Portfolio with 5x7.5 mm Low-Jitter Voltage-Controlled SAW Oscillators Offering Fundamental Frequencies up to 1 GHz

SAN JOSE, Calif., February 27, 2012 – Integrated Device Technology, Inc. (IDT®)(NASDAQ: IDTI), the Analog and Digital Company™ delivering essential mixed-signal semiconductor solutions, today announced a new series of low-jitter silicon-germanium (SiGe) voltage-controlled surface acoustic wave (SAW) oscillators (VCSOs). This new series of products supplements IDT’s popular M675 series and high-performance timing portfolio with a higher-frequency low-jitter oscillator designed to meet the stringent requirements of fiber optic telecom applications.

          The IDT M675S02 series is a single-frequency, single-output VCSO for low-jitter and low-phase noise clock generation, supporting fundamental frequencies from 500 MHz to 1 GHz. This new device provides higher frequencies than previous generations, and the low jitter and phase noise help to reduce overall bit error rates (BER), making the device well-suited for phase-locked loop applications, clock and data recovery circuits, and other timing applications in telecom and optical fiber networking systems. 

          “With the M675S02, we’ve built upon the success of the M675 family of VCSOs and increased the frequency range to address new high-performance markets,” said Fred Zust, vice president and general manager of the Timing and Synchronization Division at IDT. “To achieve these high frequencies, we had to look beyond our standard CMOS process to SiGe. The result is a demonstration of our innovation and continued commitment to providing the industry’s broadest portfolio of timing products.”

          The high-frequency IDT M675S02 is available in a small 5x7.5 mm package, ideal for compact and densely populated enclosures. In addition, it offers a ±120 ppm absolute pull range (APR), linear tuning and a 600 kHz modulation bandwidth. Beyond the telecom and optical fiber networking applications, the device also serves as a low-jitter clock reference for analog-to-digital converters.
