Trenton Chooses IDT Switching Solutions to Support Multi-core, Multi-processor PCI Express® Backplane
IDT PCI Express Switches Help Trenton Support I/O Expansion for up to 18 PCI Express Option Cards
SAN JOSE, Calf. – May 14, 2008 – IDT® (Integrated Device Technology, Inc.; NASDAQ: IDTI), a leading provider of mixed signal semiconductor solutions, today announced that its PCI Express® (PCIe®) family of switching solutions has been chosen by Trenton Technology, Inc. as the foundation for its newly announced BPX6806 PICMG® 1.3 backplane. This server-class PICMG 1.3 (SHB Express™) backplane supports up to 18 PCIemulti-core, multi-processor and option cards, and offers system scalability for demanding telecommunications, data storage and industrial computing applications.
With an architecture optimized for backplane applications, the IDT PCIe switches ensure deterministic latency and maximum throughput for all switch ports and system elements regardless of traffic profile or resource loading. Moreover, the IDT PCIe switches enable the Trenton backplane to maximize performance by providing line rate data throughput for multiple simultaneous peer-to-peer transactions. The IDT family of solutions tapped by Trenton provides the industry’s largest port density and most scalable PCIe system solutions for backplane applications.
“This industry conversion trend to PCI Express will continue, and many of our customers are migrating their diverse and demanding computing application to PCI Express, leveraging the high-speed, high-bandwidth and scalability the standard offers,” explained Jim Renehan, director of marketing and business development at Trenton Technology. “Our backplane, powered by IDT PCI Express switching technology, provides the PCI Express backplane expansion needed by our customers, while ensuring the highest performance, lowest latency and most reliable PCI Express interfaces possible.”
“At IDT, we continue to extend our leadership position in the PCIe switching industry by offering the solutions to enable our customers, such as Trenton, to develop their systems with differentiated features,” said Kam Eshghi, director of marketing for the IDT Serial Switching Division. “Through our conversations with customers, we’re seeing an increased demand for server-class backplanes. Our collaboration with Trenton, as well as other leaders in this space, has allowed IDT to meet this demand by developing switching solutions specifically designed for the needs of this market.”
