CrystalFree™ Clock Generators (Internal Frequency Reference)

IDT CrystalFree™ piezoelectric MEMS (pMEMS) clock generators combine IDT’s pMEMS oscillator technology and phase-locked-loop (PLL) techniques to generate high-quality clock frequencies for consumer, computing and embedded applications. The use of MEMS technology eliminates the need for an external frequency source, such as a crystal, thereby improving the reliability, reducing board space and lead-times and lowering the cost of a system. This family of devices can provide up to two independent single-ended output frequencies, one in the range of 2 to 200MHz and another fixed output at 27MHz (5V8002x only), allowing system designers to reduce component count and save board space. The clock generators also provide an inexpensive and effective way to reduce EMI using spread spectrum techniques. These devices are well-suited for both battery-powered portable devices and enterprise datacenters, consuming up to 75 percent less power than other MEMS-based two-output spread spectrum-enabled timing solutions.
