SAN JOSE, Calif., October 31, 2006 — IDT™ (Integrated Device Technology, Inc.; NASDAQ: IDTI), a leading provider of vital semiconductor solutions, today announced that ConSentry Networks has chosen to incorporate IDT network search engines (NSEs) into its LANShield Controller to assist in off-loading critical packet header processing. Supported by the IDT NSE, the ConSentry LANShield Controller was a recent recipient of the Interop Best in Show award for infrastructure and the 2006 TechWorld Award for the most Innovative Product of the Year.
“Including the IDT network search engine into our LANShield Controller enables us to provide customers with an entirely new approach to pervasive LAN security,” said Sam Farsad, vice president of engineering for ConSentry Networks. “The network search engine offloads packet header searches, allowing us to optimize our packet processing architecture. In addition, IDT is providing us with a leading-edge performance product roadmap capable of handling our next-generation product requirements for header search acceleration.”
The LANShield Controller is a LAN security system that gives enterprise IT staff complete control of the LAN, without compromising performance. It delivers Layer 2-7 deep packet inspection at 10 Gbps rates, enabling the device to sit inline and fully secure every port on an enterprise LAN. The IDT network search engine is fully-optimized for offloading compute-intensive Layer 2-4 tasks, such as access control list lookups used in implementing security in enterprise applications. This offloading of compute-intensive functions permits the LANShield Controller to devote resources to qualifying the necessary user access rights while enabling businesses to protect their corporate assets, ensuring continuity of operations and dramatically reducing the risk of security breaches.
“ConSentry is an award-winning company committed to delivering innovative, secure LAN solutions, and IDT is proud to be working collaboratively with ConSentry in promoting and enabling improved security for the enterprise,” said Derek Dicker, co-general manager for the IDT IP co-processor division. “The growing security need of today’s enterprise networks is placing heavy demands on secure LAN solution providers. ConSentry came to IDT seeking the strength and adaptability of our high-performance network search engines for its LANShield Controller to assist with the heavy packet header processing required to address the performance needs of today’s enterprise networks.”
The IDT family of high-performance network search engines offers ConSentry a low-power, feature-rich packet header processing solution supporting up to 250 million searches per second. By delivering a pin- and software-compatible family from 2- to 18-Mbit densities, IDT enabled ConSentry to easily support multiple configurations of its LANShield Controller product. The IDT NSEs are complemented by a comprehensive software development kit including production-quality initialization, management, and search (IMS) control plane software. This allows customers, such as ConSentry, to lower development costs with a faster time to market and improved system performance.
