Set-top Box (STB)

A set-top box (STB) is a unit that is used to transform a signal, from either cable or satellite, into a format that can be displayed on a screen or monitor. Set-top boxes are used with televisions and consist of a tuner, which takes the signal from an outlet, transforms it into a new signal, and then displays it onto the television. Another benefit of set-top boxes is that they enhance the quality of the signal coming into the box. Set-top boxes are capable of being digital video recorders (DVRs) and can also be enhanced in other ways.
