GUI Enables a Fully Customizable, Configurable and
SAN JOSE, Calif., February 25, 2008 – IDT® (Integrated Device Technology, Inc.; NASDAQ: IDTI), a leading provider of essential mixed-signal semiconductor solutions that enrich the digital media experience, today introduced a significant upgrade to its proprietary advanced software graphic user interface (GUI), intended to simplify audio use and management in PC systems which include an IDT audio codec. The IDT HD sound GUI, available with all IDT PC audio codecs, provides an improved audio user experience through its intuitive and user-friendly user interface and controls. Moreover, the HD sound GUI allows end-users to differentiate their individual desktop and notebook PCs through customization of the GUI image while allowing IDT customers – OEMs and ODMs – to include their branding information on the visible interface.
The GUI enables IDT customers to provide end-users with maximum, yet easy-to-use, control of a PC audio system by providing complete audio customization. The IDT GUI provides intuitive initial individual set-up, input/output audio jack configurability, and allows end-users to dynamically adjust their audio experience based on application, environment, and content. The GUI provides a centralized location to configure and adjust audio endpoints and applications while intelligently managing the audio characteristics and capabilities in use in the system, even as users run standard audio application software such as audio or video playback, voice chat, and VoIP telephony.
“The new IDT HD sound interface represents a qualitative sea-change in the design of audio interfaces in personal computers. The IDT interface is extremely easy to use and helps to guide the user to a richer understanding of PC-based audio within the context of the Vista operating system. While the Vista audio experience offers the benefit of more flexibility and specific control over independent audio endpoints, it comes at the increased cost of greater complexity and confusion for the user,” said Dr. Thomas Thornton, senior research scientist at Perceptive Sciences. “The IDT interface provides a convenient one-stop control panel that effectively simplifies and manages this complexity in a context that is intuitive and easy-to-learn.”
IDT PC audio solutions offer advanced usage models for PC audio, provide end-customers the ability to personally manage the quality of their audio experience, and achieve high-levels of overall audio fidelity, all while providing for maximum battery life. IDT PC audio codecs provide compatibility with the most stringent Windows Logo Program fidelity requirements.
“IDT is very excited to provide our new HD sound GUI with our audio codec portfolio, helping improve audio function and performance for next generation desktops and high-end notebooks. Providing an easy-to-use and customizable GUI is just one way we’re helping our OEM, ODM, and channel customers improve the audio experience for their end users,” said Mary Cunningham, director of marketing for the IDT PC Audio operation. “We’re excited to be able to extend the audio capabilities of desktop and notebook PCs, providing easy audio management and some really cool applications like Voice over IP sound processing and Karaoke Mixer with advanced vocal elimination.”
The IDT GUI provides simple, easy to find and use management of all audio interfaces and enhancements on a PC. In addition, the GUI provides a family of “mini-panels” allowing the user to manage, in a side-bar window, specific audio characteristics and applications. The initial release of the new GUI provides an advanced Karaoke Mixer with dynamic vocal elimination; Voice over IP (VoIP) microphone processing enhancements; and a music mini-panel allowing for dynamic adjustment and monitoring of audio equalization settings. The IDT GUI is fully supported by all IDT PC audio codecs on the Microsoft Windows Vista operating system. The IDT GUI allows end-users to enable and configure various audio plug-ins in Windows Vista and is optimized for compatibility with all third party independent software vendors providing better usability during applications such as VoIP calls. The GUI enables IDT to further leverage its in-depth knowledge of what end-users want and need in their various audio experiences, to allow desktop and notebook users to experience digital audio media through a unique combination of high-fidelity hardware, intuitive applications software, advanced driver and usage model support, and worldwide OEM support.
